Cleaning Burnt or Baked on Foods

Clean burnt or baked-on foods from pots or pans by putting a Bounce dryer sheet in it, fill with water and let sit overnight. Sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan. Other dryer softner sheets may also work.

Unbelievable!!! Really works. : ) Comments By: Lisa on 2005-09-16
I had burnt coconut candy on the bottom of a heave cast iron pan. I tried the baking soda, vinegar soak overnight. Then saw this suggestion. Put the dryer sheet, (snuggle), although I think any would work, cover with enough water to soak the sheet. Let it sit overnight, and most of a day. It made the burnt stuff kinda bubble and break up, I was able to slide a flat knife/icing type under the burnt on mess and it peeled right up. I really thought I was going to have to throw this pan out.
It's worth a try. I'm so glad I read about this tip on here.
Hope this helps everyone else too.
Thanks.
Lisa
