Ammonia for removing a blood stain

If you have a blood stain first pre-soak in cold or warm water at least 30 minutes. If stain remains, soak in lukewarm ammonia water (3 Tbs. per Gallon of water). Rinse.

If stain remains, work in detergent and wash, using bleach safe for fabric.

Ammonia can stain colored fabrics Comments By: Alice on 2004-10-11
I have had a colored garment irreperably discolored trying to remove a stain with ammonia, so I wouldn't recommend unless for whites or something where appearance doesn't matter much.
