This is delicious and warming in front of an open fire in wintry weather.
1lb sloes (fruits of the blackthorn: prunus spinosa)
1lb brown sugar
1 litre of gin
wash and prick sloes (traditionally with a silver pin) put in a large sterilized
airtight jar (le parfait) add sugar and gin.
leave for a minimum three months,
invert jar daily until the sugar has dissolved.
can drink, but better left for three more, or until next xmas.
