White scortch marks on wood

Submitted by Lori

Rather than rubbing with baking soda or dabbing with alcohol, go to your nearest art supplies store and get some fixative spray. Spray a light coat on the stain and watch it disappear in seconds! Allow it to dry completely, then polish as usual. Don't wipe it at all or you'll get a smudged spot. Quick hint, you, your child, or even your cat accidentally touches it. Just spray it lightly again to make the smudge disappear.

This worked fantastically on my oak dining room table.
