Long car trips are bad enough without a smoker on board. If you're traveling with a smoker, here's an easy way to keep your cars ashtray and the air you breathe clean. Fill a 3-pound coffee can with three parts sand and one part baking soda. Your smoking passenger can put out his cigarettes in the sand, and the baking soda will absorb the smoky odor. The weight of the sand will also prevent the makeshift ashtray from tipping over.
