Fabric conditioners sometimes called softeners, or fabric sottener, work by coating the fibers with a substance to make the clothes feel soft. They contain perfumes and additives that are harmful to sensitive skins, and many people find the smell intrusive. They also include other chemicals that irritate some skins, especially those of young babies.
Alternative
Rinse clothes well. If possible, dry clothes out of doors; if not, tumble dry carefully, according to instructions. Don't dry clothes on radiators, as this type of drying hardens the fabric.
