Shoe Polish. Tips to remove Shoe Polish stains on upholstery
When the spill or accident first happens, it is important to wipe up, blot up as much of the excess liquid stuff as possible. Use a spoon or butter knife if there is a lot of shoe polish on the upholstery. Using a paper towel or a clean towel you can soak up as much of the excess shoe polish as possible.Â
If the stain is fresh or if the stain is dry, spray a bit of clear water on the upholstery area try not to over wet it too much. Then dab and blot the shoe polish stained area, bringing out the moisture and some of the shoe polish at the same time.
Keep doing this as long as you are bringing color out of the upholstery from the shoe polish. Blot the stained area until it is near dry to touch.Â
If you still have a shoe polish stain on the upholstery, make a spray of water and a few drops of detergent. Spray this on the stained area and blot up using a paper towel. Try not to rub the upholstery too much so you don’t stretch it out.Â
Rinse the stained area with a clear water spray again. Remove all the suds and any remaining shoe polish stain in the upholstery. Continue until you don’t see any more suds coming from the upholstery.Â
Make a mixture of water and vinegar. A half and half solution will do the trick, spraying this on the shoe polish stain, and then blotting off you will get all the final traces coloring from the shoe polish, and the detergent out of the upholstery.
