Ink, Water Based. Tips to remove Water Based ink stains on upholstery

If you have had an ink pen explode or if you found some ink on your upholstery, you can get it out using these great tips for water-soluble ink stains.

If there is lots of ink on your upholstery be sure to scrape off as much of the excess as you can, or use a paper towel and try to wipe some of the excess ink off the upholstery.

Wet the upholstery using a spray of water, and let this sit for just a bit. Blot and dab with a clean towel and bring out the moisture from the upholstery, bringing the ink with it. Repeat this as long as you are bringing out the ink from the fabric.

If you still have an ink stain in the upholstery, make a mixture of water and a few drops of clear bleach free detergent. Spray this on the ink stain and blot the moisture out bringing out the ink with the moisture. Keep changing the portion of your towel so you know if you are still bringing ink out of the upholstery.

Rinse the fabric using a spray of clear water, dabbing and blotting the moisture out of the upholstery, bringing with it the ink and the suds from the detergent. Repeat until you aren’t bringing out any more suds from the detergent.

Rinse the upholstery once again using a mixture of water and vinegar. A half and half mixture works great. Spray on the upholstery and blot off bringing any remains of the ink with the moisture.
