Ballpoint Ink. Tips to remove Ballpoint Ink stains on upholstery

If you have a ball point ink stain on your upholstery, wet the stain with a cotton ball that is wet with alcohol. Dab at the stain until you can’t bring out any more of the ink from the upholstery.

Apply a few drops of dry cleaning fluid to the ball point ink stain. Blot off the excess moisture bringing out the stain with the dry cleaning fluid. Repeat with a clean towel as long as you are bringing out more of the ball point ink stain.

Make a mixture of water and a few drops of a clear, bleach free detergent and spray over the ink stained area. Blot and dab to bring out the moisture. Try not to rub the upholstery so you don’t stretch out the upholstery too much. Repeat as long as you see more of the ball point ink coming out of the upholstery.

Rinse with a spray of clear water. Blot and dab the stained area with a clean towel to bring out the moisture and any remaining suds.

Rinse your upholstery one last time using a half and half mixture of vinegar and water. Blot and dab with a clean towel to bring out moisture and any remaining ink. Repeat as needed for stain free upholstery.

I had my dry cleaning fluid out, but didn't even have to move to that step. The alcohol took the ink out immediately!

My new ultrasuede couch is safe. My son-in-law will live to see another day...but he should still not leave my two-year old grandson unsupervised with pens. ;)

I had a pen in my back pocket and got ink all over my couch. I used aerosol suave hairspray sprayed the area and blotted it up. My couch is microfiber so to avoid water stains I lightly wiped with water and then while smoothing with my fingers used a blow dryer on the cool setting. I no longer have the ink stain or water spots and the color is the same.

It worked Comments By: Linda on 2008-04-11
I had my micro fiber sofa professonaly cleaned. They were unable to get my ink stains out if anything it looked more noticable because the rest of my couch was clean and the ink stood out. I took alchol and applied it with a cotton ball then quickly wiped the sofa off with a damg rag. It looks great. There is still a hint of a stain, but I am happy with the results.

Alcohol And A Water Pick Comments By: just got lucky on 2008-05-29
I Own A Screen Printing Business So I Deal With Ink All Day Long. I Accidently Set My Pen Down On A Shirt & We Were Out Of Our Spray Out. Luckily I Had An Old Water Pick Lying Around. I Poured Rubbing Alcohol In It, Placed A Rag On The Opposite Side Of The Stain & Turned It On. The Sharp Stream Pushed The Ink Right Through The Shirt With No Time Consuming Dabbing.

ink stain removal Comments By: sarah godfrey on 2010-09-19
I quickly ran and tried fabric stain remover as sson as I found this leak all over the couch, but you know what I accidently found out? Good old detergent and water have gotten it out better, and the stain remover I tried seems to have to enhanced the ink stain and set it rather than removing it! That was oxy stain -the same was true of the wooden table that it waws also on. The soap and water worked best, the oxy stain made it set! very wierd...By the way, did you notice that this kind of thing always happens when you are really tired?? Also.hat people always try to have some special soltuion instead of trying the simplist idea first? (I don't understand how people always seeem to have a bottle of denatured alcohol or hairspray handy..

ink stain on micro fiber couch Comments By: G. C. on 2011-02-05
I had one of those felt ball point pens that leaked a quarter sized stain on my new couch in two places. Two Big Black stains that just popped out at you when you looked at the couch. I had nothing but a can of hair spray. After numerous blotting (I couldn't believe the volume of ink that continued to come out) it finally came out completely. I sprayed one last time and gently rubbed the area in case I missed something & to blend the fabric. Thank you!
