Vaseline. Tips to remove Vaseline stains on carpets
If you have a Vaseline stain, use this method for removing that stain on your carpeting: Take a plastic knife or a butter knife and scrape over the carpet area. Bring up as much of the Vaseline as possible. Using a paper towel or a cloth wet the cloth with rubbing alcohol and dab at the stained area. You will see a glossy coating on the carpeting and the alcohol will break down the oils in the Vaseline to remove it. Continue this at least three or four times and then go to the next step, as you might not be able to see all the stain when it is wet. Make a spray mixture of one-cup warm water and a tablespoon of clear bleach free dish liquid. Spray this on the stained area and blot with a clean paper towel to bring up more of the Vaseline. If you have a lot of suds left in your carpeting, rinse the area with a spray of warm water and blot with your clean towel. Try not to over wet the carpeting, just spray and dab until the suds are all up. You can wrap a brick or stone and set on the wet area if you think it is too wet to bring up more of the moisture. Let the carpeting dry for about an hour and look over the area to see if you still have a stain from the Vaseline in the fibers of the carpet. If you still have a stain in the carpeting from the Vaseline, spray the area with peroxide and let it dry. This will break up the stain further. Repeat as needed, letting the carpeting dry between applications to completely remove any remaining stains.
