Play Dough Clay. Tips to remove Play Dough stains on carpets
Children love play dough, as much as many of adults do in creating crafts for the home. If you have found some play dough or clay ground into your carpeting use these tips to work it out. The first thing you need to do if you have found soft or hard play dough in your carpeting is to scrape out as much of the play dough from the carpet that you can. Using a plastic fork, knife or spoon works well while not pulling on the carpeting too much. Using a paper towel or white colored rag, wet the towel with rubbing alcohol and dab what remains in your carpeting. The rubbing alcohol will help loosen the play dough from the fibers of the carpet plus it is going to work on any color staining of the carpet. After you find that no further coloring or play dough is coming from out of the carpeting you can work on breaking down more of the stain using a mixture of one cup of water and a tablespoon of clear dish liquid. Spray this on the stain and blot up with a towel. Work any pieces of play dough that is deep in your carpet, loose with your fingers. Blot up the moisture so you carpet doesn’t get too wet. Rinse your carpet with clear water and blotting with a paper towel or cloth. Repeat this as needed until you get up all the suds. Let the carpet dry before moving on to the next step. If you still have deep down color in your carpet from the pay dough, spray with hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for an hour or two. After this dries, spray again and blot up using a towel or paper towel. If you still have slight coloring repeat as needed.
