Fountain pen ink . Tips to remove Fountain pen ink stains on carpets

Fountain pen ink is one stain that can be difficult to get out of your carpeting, but it can be done.  Use the following tips to get those stains out.

If your ink has been spilled in a major way, be sure to get all the pieces of debris thrown away as soon as possible to prevent further staining.  If possible, scrape and dab the pools of ink that are on the carpeting.  Using a butter knife or a plastic knife would work well or you can use any other type of scraping object that won’t pull on your carpeting too much.

No matter if the stain is dry or the ink is still wet, you can proceed and work that ink stain out using isopropyl rubbing alcohol on the ink stain.  Put the rubbing alcohol on your cloth and dab at the stain.  Don’t rub the ink stain out any further, and don’t pour the rubbing alcohol on the carpet, just dab at the stain with your cloth.

After you have been working with the rubbing alcohol and you aren’t bringing up any more coloring as you are dabbing at the stain, use a mixture of two cups of water and two tablespoons of dish liquid, non-bleach type.

Spray this on the stain and continue dabbing at the stain, changing your cloth around so you will know if you are still bringing up more of the stain or not, and then repeat until you are no longer bringing out any more ink stain or the stain is gone.

Rinse out your carpet using just water and a clean cloth. Spray and dab the area to bring out any remaining soap and loose stain.  Allow this to dry for about an hour or two.

If you still have somewhat of a stain in the carpeting, make mixture of two cups of water and a half-cup of peroxide.  Spray this on the stain and blot.  Repeat and let it sit for about an hour.  Continue this process as often as needed to get the remaining stain out.
