Household Cement. Tips to remove Household Cement stains on carpets

Fixing various items or working with crafts in the home, you cold be using household cement. This household cement can cause a stain if it is ground in the carpeting in just about any room. Use these tips to get household cement out of your carpet for a great clean.

If the cement is still wet you can bring up most of the household cement by scraping the area lightly not pulling on the carpet fabric. If the cement is a bit dry, you might have to work on the larger pieces, pulling the fibers gently from the spill. A dull knife or a spatula work well.

After pulling up all the big dried pieces or the large spilled liquid, you can apply a mixture of water and dish liquid. The water will break down the cement and make it more easily blotted up. Continue spraying and blotting the water mixture until you are not seeing any more of the cement coming up on the cloth that you are using to clean the carpeting.

Rinse out the stained area using a spray of clear liquid and a clean towel or cloth. Blotting the moisture out of the carpeting, and letting it dry just a bit, you can then ‘see’ what type of stain is really left in the carpet.

As the carpet dries you will notice that there may be no more stain or that the stain is very light. If you have a bit of stain still, use a mixture of one cup of water and a half-cup of peroxide and spray the area where the stain is. Work in with your fingers just a bit without getting it too wet, and let it dry for about an hour. Blot the remaining moisture up and then repeat if needed to remove even more of the stain.
