Egg. Tips to remove Egg stains on carpets

Eggs, both cooked and uncooked can spill, crack and leave stains in the carpet in the kitchen or dining room - even sometimes in the living room when you are having a nice quiet breakfast. Eggs stains can be brought out of the carpeting with just a bit of cleaning.

Scrape, blot, or wipe up any excess egg that is lying on the top of the carpet before it really has a chance to soak in. You can use a paper towel, a spatula, or a plastic knife if needed.

The first thing you have to do is neutralize the egg so using a spray of two tablespoons of ammonia and a cup of water, spray the area and blot up with a clean cloth. Be sure not to over wet the carpet, just keep spraying and blotting up the moisture to bring out the egg from the carpet. Keep doing this until you feel that you have brought out all the egg in the carpet.

To rinse the carpet you need to use a mixture of two tablespoons of dish liquid and a cup of water. Spray this on the carpet and continue to blot up until the smell of ammonia is gone and any remains of the egg stain are gone.

If you are working on a stain that was already dried in, use a mixture of one half cup peroxide and two cups of water. Spray the carpeting well and let this stand on the stain for about half an hour to an hour. Spray again with clear water and blot up to remove any remaining dried stains.

It worked okay Comments By: Karen P on 2005-11-23
but I found it to be very time consuming. The initial stain cleared up well but it took me almost 6 hours to totally clear my carpet to look half way decent. I ended up renting a rug dr to get the rest out....guess I should have done that from the beginning....
