Carpet. Ways to recycle carpets
Here are a few ideas if you are looking for ways to recycle left over peices of carpet. Noise dampener Cut out pieces of unused carpet or under felt of the right size to fit under typewriters and sewing machines, on cabinet shelves and inside toolboxes. Bed bumper Pad the corners of a sharp bed frame with small pieces of carpet to prevent scraping the paintwork or gouging out plaster walls. Foot warmers Trace your feet on a piece of paper; use this as a pattern to cut a piece of thin carpeting to fit inside boots or work shoes. Buffer Glue an old piece of carpet or felt to a block of wood with epoxy resin; use it to buff shoes or as a blackboard wiper. Floor protection When doing messy repairs, protect the floor with old carpeting or underlay; if you're using a stepladder, make sure the piece is large enough to take all four of its legs. Exercise mat Cut a length of old carpet approximately 3ft/1m wide and as long as you are tall. Roll it up and store it under a bed when you are not using it. Knee pad To protect your knees when you are washing the floor or weeding, cut out two pieces of carpet about l0in/250mm square. Make two parallel slits or holes towards the sides of each piece, and then run an old tie or scarf through the slits and use it to tie the pad to your knee.
