To remove odor from fridge that was accidently turned off I was advised that crumpled up newspapers would do the trick. It did! I repeated it daily for about 4 days removing the old stinky ones and stuffing new ones in the freezer and fridge, but the odor was gone. The fridge was empty and had been cleaned, I cleaned it several times with no results but the newspapers did the job.
