Lemonade mix. Make your own Lemonade mix

Here is a delightful recipe to make your own lemonade.

To make 24 servings

  • 1 pints/1 liter fresh lemon juice (about 24 large lemons)
  • 7oz/200g caster sugar
  • 1 lb/700g golden syrup

For pink lemonade, add 6 floz/175ml grenadine syrup. For limeade, substitute lime juice for the lemon juice.

Stir all the ingredients together in a large bowl until the sugar dissolves. Pour into a screw-top jar, cover and store in the refrigerator. Each time of use, shake well and add 2 floz/60ml of the mix to 6 floz/175ml of water or soda water. Stir well and add ice if desired. The lemonade mix will keep for up to 2 weeks if refrigerated.

It is nice to have these traditional recipes as you do not know what goes into many commercial drinks.
