Whiter teeth Hydrogen peroxide mouthwash

You can also use hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash: take a spoonful to an 1/8th of a cup of peroxide and use this as you would mouth wash. You will see the bubbles as your teeth get cleaned killing germ and brightening your teeth.

Shouldn't you Dilute? Comments By: Emery on 2004-08-10
Hello, I too have used peroxide as mouthwash....it works great!! But on the bottle it says to dilute with an equal amount of water. I haven't tested it otherwise as this is still pretty strong. Another good thing is using this with baking soda for brushing. I make a paste from 1tbsp baking soda and a few drops 1/2 peroxide 1/2 water mixture. The salty taste from the sodium in the soda takes getting used to(especially when brushing the tongue) but it's a great toothpaste. **Not recommended for young children!!

Percentage Comments By: Incredible on 2004-08-19
Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide does work, it whitens your teeth and when used not to often , is harmless for your teeth, be sure to have a Peroxide percentage of no more then 10 %

Use it diluted Comments By: Julie on 2009-02-04
Read the back of the bottle to make sure you dilute it correctly as is sold in different strengths. If you get bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide which is pretty common, it should be diluted with an equal amount of water making it no more than 1.5% but you can dilute it by more.

I use a little in a glass mixed with water and baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)as recommended by my dentist as a mouthwash twice a day to help strengthen my gums. I have a genetic weakness that causes some of my gums to bleed, but I don't have gum disease.

It seems to work fairly well, although it hasn't cured it completely.

In the UK you can buy Hydrogen Peroxide from a chemist. Baking Soda from a grocery store.

Real Magic! Comments By: Maxien on 2009-06-08
I have tried the Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda mix and have had instant and fantastic results.

when i read a few comments on the interent about it being instant and actually working i was sceptical, but i take it all back. My teeth are brighter, stains are less visable and thats just after the first application, 3 applications later and im begining to think some sort of miracle has happened. My gums and tongue look pinker and healthier. My mouth feels healthier and so much more cleaner than just regular toothbrusing and my treeth are so much whiter, not perfectly white (i dont want that fake tooth look) but much whiter than they were.

My new best friend is hydrogen peroxide.

Do not just take a spoonful lol Comments By: CaptainConner on 2009-10-30
I bought 6% which is way too strong. I would buy 3% proof and use it 50/50 with water to make it 1.5% and use like a normal mouth wash after brushing. First time I did it the hydorogen peroxide was fizzing all my teeth and gum were sensative after so i dont do it often and now use arm $ hammer enamal care toothpaste to protect my enamel. Hydrogen peroxide just restores the natural whiteness by removing staines and plaque.

White gums??? Comments By: jibsy on 2009-12-23
I used the mixture mentioned above and I got these white marks on my gums around my teeth!! what is this and what should I do? The marks fade after a couple of minutes but is this normal??

have a question????? Comments By: jessie on 2010-02-01
i wanted to use the baking soda/hydrogen peroxide/ water mix but i was not sure about one thing. after you use the baking soda toothpaste can i use a mouthwash like crest pro-health after or do i have to wait a certain amount of time? because i love the crest mouthwash but i was not sure if it was to much. so any help would be great, thanks.

(50/50) Hydrogen peroxide & water Comments By: Tina on 2010-07-17
I replaced the alcohol-based mouthwash that I used to use(which dries the oral mucosa causing bad breath germs to quickly return)with a peroxide mixture. It works very well to maintain a brighter smile and much fresher breath. If your sensitive to peroxide, try diluting with a little more water.

It really works for a fresher breath Comments By: anon on 2010-08-12
HP really works, it is so cheap 70p-99p it comes in 3,6 and 9%. 3-6% is ok to use, even when you brush and gargle before bed, and then wake up you don't have that morning breath that can sometimes be so stink. I swear by it, better than listerine and all the other expensive brands, my teeth are also whiter, try it you will see fr yourself.

Thanks Anon Comments By: Fkey on 2010-12-31
Thanks Anon for your recommendation of HP. I will start using it on a regular basis. And it's really cheap compared to other bands.

use of hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash Comments By: Carole from Wallington Surrey on 2011-01-14
I get quite a few mouth ulcers although i do visit my dentist and look after my oral hygiene as best i can. When i went to my doctor for advice about the ulcers he said it could be the menopause and i was most likely run down and he gave me some tablets to boost my immune system. But a friend said why don't you try hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash it is good for any infections. I tried to get the solution in five chemists in my area none had it and Boots said they have discontinued it all together. I did get it at another chemist in carshalton just up the road. I have been following the instructions on the label and my problem is much improved. I was a little unsure of using this product for a gargle as i only knew peroxide for use on hair for colouring etc. I did also notice that it can also be used for cuts and skin problems also added with water. I don't knpw why the other chemists did not stock it in my area perhaps they don't get much call for it but it has certainly helped my mouth infections etc.
