To make cleaning up easier after painting, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to your hands and face before painting.

To remove dried emulsion paint from clothing, soak the garment in a solution of warm water and detergent for about 2 hours. Then brush the stain gently with a toothbrush. Repeat if necessary.

If you cannot shift the marks on a paint-spattered carpet, carefully snip off the stained fibres.
