Never pick up broken glass with your bare hands - or approach it in your bare feet. Carefully sweep it into a dustpan, wrap it in newspaper, and throw it out.
To pick up tiny slivers of glass, wipe all around the breakage area with a paper towel or cotton wool smeared with moist soap. Rinse with a water-soaked paper towel and wipe dry.
Broken auto glass will normally be replaced free of charge for you if you have auto glass coverage on your car insurance policy.
